Yalameh is a village in Isfahan province, and a producer of some of the most popular nomadic Persian rugs. The pattern is detailed, geometric diamond-shaped medallions against an equally well-detailed background. Yalameh rugs have always been woven according to western tastes, and exported to many different parts of the world in great quantities. Yalameh produces many different sizes up to 9 by 12 feet, and runners of different lengths are very common in this region. Fabulous shades of red and blue are used in rugs of Yalameh. The high quality of hand-spun and naturally-dyed wool makes these rugs very durable. In majority of Yalameh rugs, the foundation is wool with two shots of weft inserted over each row of knots. Average knot density is between 120 and 180 KPSI.
