Abadeh, situated on the main road between Isfahan and Shiraz, produces some excellent rugs. These rugs are normally based on a cotton warp and weft (of blue color), a red field and dark blue border. Design elements of the field are small geometric flowers and cypress trees above and under the center medallion. Their unique design-named Heybatlu- makes them easily recognizable, consisting of a center medallion with smaller medallions on each corner. Although an Abadeh rug can be mistaken with a Shiraz rug, it does have a higher knot count. These rugs come in medium size with an average KPSI of around 140, and are very durable.
